In the spirit of compassion, generosity and community, Ssesanga Mixed Farm , an agricultural enterprise in Uganda that offers a blend of commercial food production, wholesale supply, and agritourism has complimented government efforts by donating assorted food items to Ugandans repatriated from South Africa.
Over 1,030 Ugandans were repatriated from South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks underwent a remarkable transformation at the National Leadership Institute (NALI), to rebuild their lives back home.
To support the government’s rehabilitation programme in restoring hope, rebuilding confidence, and equipping returnees with the knowledge and skills needed to become productive citizens ,Ssesanga Mixed Farm last week donated food to empower some of the families that are still struggling to regain hope.
An official from Ssesanga Mixed Farm said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to standing alongside communities and the gesture is anchored in the farm’s Diversity and Inclusion agenda, which supports both its workforce and the wider community.
Beneficiaries conveyed their appreciation towards Ssesanga farm’s support and dedication towards improving the lives of the returnees.
Ssesanga Mixed Farm operates an integrated supply network delivering fresh produce directly to consumers and retailers across Kampala and nearby urban areas.
They supply livestock products, fresh eggs by the tray, various crops, grains, and aquaculture products. They also distribute farm inputs, equipment, and veterinary medicines and delivery to Kampala and neighboring towns, ensuring fully traceable, farm-fresh products.
The farm hosts paid community events, group visits, and hands-on School Educational Farm Tours to teach students modern agricultural practices.
They offer practical farm training days and workshops focused on sustainable management and skill building for all age groups.
Speaking at the pass-out ceremony of 1,030 returnees at Kyankwanzi on last month, President Yoweri Museveni Museveni also announced Shs2 billion to support their reintegration, in addition to Shs2 million for each household head to facilitate transport back to their home districts.
The returnees spent 15 days at NALI undergoing rehabilitation, counselling and ideological orientation under a programme coordinated by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) after being evacuated from South Africa following violent xenophobic attacks targeting foreign African nationals.
Museveni said Uganda offers vast opportunities in commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, artisan work and the digital economy, arguing that wealth creation is achievable through productive investment at home.
